What Does "Jewel Case" Mean?

During the course of my day, I have a few customers that call to inquire about the difference between the "Retail Package" and the "Jewel Case Version" of educational software, offered at Smart Kids Software. To begin, let's take a look at a "Jewel Case Title".

As you can see, the "Jewel Case" is the clear plastic container in which the CD-ROM is held. The booklet, that's inserted in the front of the "Jewel Case", contains the installation instructions, licensing, warrantee and whatever additional information the publisher might want to include with the title.

Occasionally, a program that's listed as a "Jewel Case" is in fact not the plastic container but is instead an attractive full color cardboard CD container. Additionally, a very small amount of this media will contain the CD-ROM, alone.
